same here. v32 won’t produce sound via cdmi on rpi4

Guys. I fixed the problem by selecting VC4-hdmi-0ditigal stereo (IEC958) in BOTH audio OUTPUT and audio PROFILE. I suppose it requires using HDMI port 0 (closer to the power port). Not sure why auto setting won’t work like in V31, but at least now sound goes to my TV via HDMI normally.

Thanks so much @icefox1983 @hkksip for the suggestion of using manual audio settings.

For anyone else reading this, it’s important to know that HDMI-0PRO Audio is for HDMI port 0 (closer to the power / 3.5mm jack) and HDMI-1PRO Audio is for HDMI port 1.

I had just upgraded and this was driving me crazy. I had just spend days trying to sort out some things with internal storage and almost thought my days with this were over.

Hoping something can be figured out with the auto-detection! Would be glad to provide any diags, I know a dmesg | grep audio yielded some errors.

I have also audio issues with my RPi4 Setup.

No matter which output or profile I choose. So.etimes it works but some times later it is broken again.

Please go back to 31 Audio-wise =(

I just moved from Recalbox to Batocera and I am havong the same issue.

Every time I boot up Batocera there is no sound until I change both sound output options. After this I can change back to “auto” and the sound continues fine until the next boot.

I am using HDMI 1 as the HDMI 0 did not work properly on Recalbox, but now I have two questions:

1 - If I star using HDMI 0 the issue might be solved?

2 - Is there a way to keep Batocera from change the sound output options at every boot?

Which version of batocera? And why do you change audio output back to “auto”?

Hi. I’m having similar issues.

I’ve just switched from retropie to batocera on pi4 4gb

I’ll get sound for a while but it will randomly stop at different times untill I either reboot or if I unplug the hdmi cable out of the tv and plug it back in again. I’ve tried different combos of audio settings and profiles but no luck so far. Not sure if I’ve tried all the combos for settings and profiles. I’ve had the hdmi in both ports and still the same keeps happening. I’m now trying a different hdmi port on the tv to see if that works.

Oh I’m using V36

It still happens to me even in v36. I manage to recover the sound without restarting everything by switching to the audio profile by switching from hdmi to headphone and then vice versa. it happens very often…

What kind of cable do you have at the output of your raspberry pi?

An hdmi/micro-hdmi cable or a micro-hdmi adapter with a classic hdmi cable?
