v29 boot to input timing issue

Hi All, hope someone can help this new user.

I’m running v29 on a Kinhank Super Console X PC Box (Xeon PC version) and everything boots fine on an LG C1 TV. When I connect to my Dell 43in the display essential showed me an error that says “the current timing is not supported please change input timing to 3840×2160 @60hz” and stays black.

It’s a dual boot system and when I go into Windows I confirmed the Dell display supports that resolution and frequency.

Any ideas on how to move forward and get batocera booted? I tried making a fresh USB external boot to a 4TB HD and a 32GB flash drive of v32 and v31 and no go, still boots to black.

Anything anyone can recommend would be greatly appreciated

Consult the purchaser (If the official image has been modified, it is difficult to identify the problem) Try the latest official image

Does anyone else have anything, the vendor is out of the office until Oct 7th and will not likely respond until at least the 10th. Seems weird that it would work on a 4K TV but not a 4K desktop display.

if you bought this machine with batocera pre-installed, then we can not give any support because we do not know, if and how this preinstalled image has been modified by the creator and you should also read:

So the issue is only on your 4K desktop display? On other TVs/Monitors no problems? What’s the exact model name/number of your 4K desktop display?

I am pretty sure he’s using an official image to flash this. Let’s assume the benefit of the doubt.

@im36degrees You’ve already tested a regular USB with Batocera so that rules out the drive itself being the issue. You’re flashing with Etcher, right? Does it pass the “validation” step successfully?

Atari That is correct, I used Etcher and the flash passed verification on both devices I tried (the 32GB flash drive and 4TB HD).

joinski It’s only the Display, it’s a Dell 43in U4320Q. Other TV ( a LG C1) zero issue)

If there are no problems with other TVs / monitors, so the problem really only occurs with the Dell 43 inch, then it will probably not be easy to find the cause.

@IMLinker You could try forcing a resolution of max-1920×1080 in batocera-boot.conf by making es.resolution=max-1920x1080. That should make it work.

UPDATE:
First thank you all that put out an actual recommendation and effort into helping a new guy and not just recite rules and regulations, telling me to go back where I purchased it (nicely of course) or think it’s going to be too difficult to make any recommendations.

Atari, special shout out to you. Your recommendation worked in HDMI but I also switched to the Display Port and it works without changing the .conf file so two wins there!

It’s communities that make projects like this stronger, glad you have a few members that still see that.
