How to set a joystick for each emu

Hi everyone,

I have a Hori fighting mini joystick and a compatible XBox 360 joypad (GameSir G3s)

Hori is wired so alwais on

XBox 360 is wireless so if not used it goes asleep

I would like to set the Hori joystick for Mame, C64 and Amiga emulators, XBox 360 for all the others. Is this possible? I configured both of them but not alwais the right emu recognises the right joystick… :_(

Hello. No, it’s not possible to do that at the moment. It’s the first suggestion that you can find here:

You have to choose the one you want to use it every time in the controllers menu.

An related to the type of gamepad that Batocera recognised, I have to say that I have 5 different gamepads from 8bitdo (Nes, Snes, Snes Pro, Megadrive, PC Engine) and it recognized all of them with the correct label right away even in X-imput mode (which is the recommended one).

Maybe you can configure your Hori in several modes? In 8bido case you have to press start + X button to set up the x-imput mode. Then you’re always in that mode unless you change it. I think normally fighting sticks have two modes, one for use the joystick as a d-pad an another to use is as the analogic stick (For games only compatible with this). But just guessing.

Why not just unplug the controller you aren’t using?
Either way, you can always set the player order in the controller menu. Just set whatever controller you’re currently using to player 1 and it should work fine.

I saw maybe what the problem is: sometime the Hori stick is recognized correctly, other as a compatible XBox 360 joypad. The funny thing is that when recognized as Hori Batocera doesn’t see the home button, when recognized as XBox 360 compatible it does. Is there a way to fix this? I prefer to save the XBox 360 compatible setting of course :-)

LastNinja2 Sometimes? It might be important to work out what causes that “sometimes” first. Then focus on creating workarounds.

All I can do is suggest you try out a different USB port.

Got it, so at the moment I use the joysticks one by one and Batocera see Hori as XBox 360 compatible and I’m happy ;-) Thanks everyone

Just to clarify. You don’t need to input joysticks physically one by one.

You can connect all of them and then at the same time and you can change them in the controller menu, selecting the one that you want as default from the list.

At the end at least is more practical that disconnecting an connecting physical, but yes, not ideal yet.

I have to say that I cannot do this in a regular installation of Steam yet, as I have a lot of problems selecting the correct controller. Batocera does a better job here with the controller selection previous to run the game.
