Wild West C.O.W. Boys Of Moo Mesa not running

Hi everybody,

I am trying to run this particular MAME game “Wild West C.O.W. Boys Of Moo Mesa” on Batocera ES V 32 on a Raspberry Pi 4.

I am aware that ROM sets need to be in the right version and that Batocera (“uses libretro mame2003 as default core: compatible ROMs must come from set 0.78”).
So I downloaded the moo.zip from the MAME 2003 Reference Set on archive.org (for MAME 0.78) and put it in the roms/mame folder. No luck, the game does not load. Tried different roms from all over the web, no luck.

When I start them the screen turns dark briefly and then gets back to the me
after a few seconds.

Is there anything I can do to run the game?

Try changing Mame’s core. I made it work with the Mame script, only control 2 didn’t recognize the joystick. but from a player if it loaded
