Running Batocera from a usb drive

I have a Windows 10 gaming PC with a second internal drive formatted in NTFS full of roms for different systems.

If I write Batocera to a usb drive and boot from it can Batocera access the roms on that internal drive?

Yep, just select your “internal” drive as the external storage to use from Batocera and you should be good to go.
Just be aware than NTFS is a very old filesystem and doesn’t support the features needed for newer emulators like cemu for wii u, rpcs3 for ps3, any WINE-powered Windows software, etc. You might want to consider formatting it into a more modern filesystem: https://wiki.batocera.org/add_games_bios#userdata_filesystem_options

Atari what about if my internal hard drive that has the batocera operating system installed is formated in BTRFS and my external drive which is just used for rom storage is formated in NTFS, would this also cause issues with newer Emulators like wine, wii u, rpsc3, ps3 and so on? Or doesn’t it matter since the operating system (batocera) is installed on btrfs.

Jean Correct, the incompatibilities affect whichever drive those roms/saves are saved to.
