Python Libraries. Where do I start?

Just discovered Batocera and I’m both excited and overwhelmed. I have started with a curated image that I’m trying to implement on my MAME cabinet. I have python scripts that orient the monitor and joysticks, but I need a few Python libraries to implement. My question is this:

Do I need to cross compile and hand move python libs like pySerial? Or is there an easier method? Or do I need a full blown Batocera dev environment to create packages?

If it’s just a bunch of *.py files, couldn’t you just put them in the same working directory and import them?
It’s only if those libraries rely on something else that it gets complicated.
