Hiding "hidden" files

I am having trouble removing files with the attribute “hidden” from my Mame gamelist. This is how I intend to hide my bios/device files.

I have removed the “hidden” attribute and reapplied it, updated the game lists, instructed batocera to not show “hidden” files in both the UI Settings and the View Customisation areas. I have.

Is there something I may be missing? Or is there a better way to hide these bioses?

Previously, I had made the files “hidden” by using a windows machine to access the batocera machine’s hard drive over a network.

It dawned on me that maybe linux handles hidden files in a different way so I tried using PCManFM on the batocera machine to hide the files.

However, when I navigate to the file, right click, and go to file properties, the the “ [ ] Hidden File ” is greyed out.

Another dead end.
