VIDEO MODE - only AUTO available in settings

Hi folks, I’m wondering if anyone can help me. I am running Batocera 5.27 on an Odroid XU4Q. I’m aware that more recent versions exist, but I was having severe performance issues with those, and I find the N64 emulation runs best on 5.27.

I connect to a 1440p monitor with HDMI, and I am looking to force Batocera to output 720p to increase performance. I have no need to be outputting at 1440p really, so would rather take the load off the board a bit by rendering less pixels. The core that I’m finding works best across the board is Mupen64/GlideMk2, and I’m keen to keep using it.

I was hoping that the VIDEO MODE option would allow me to drop the resolution, but the only available choice in this menu is AUTO. Therefore the system detects my monitor at 1440p and that’s what it puts out. This is the same in both the main game settings and the per-system advanced configuration.

Does anyone know how to change the output resolution from within Batocera, or enable more choice from within the menus?

Hi, you cannot change resolution in menu, wasn’t 5.27 just a beta?!

maybe in boot-partition you can change in boot.ini (I’m using 5.26 and i run mine in 1080p 60Hz). For me it looks like Mupen64/GlideMk2 isn’t using “pixels”, it is using vectors, so i guess drop resolution won’t increase performance. You will have an performance increase by using a fan (for example Noctua NF-A4×20 5V), because your odroid slows down the big cores (down to 1,4 or 1,5 ghz) when it is hot -> to prevent damage.
