Controller order will not save?

Hi all, just dropped my PC into a Cabinet at last, everything is running great but have this really weird issue?.

Whenever i press the coin button, and start, its for player 2, and player 2 is for player 1.

In my config menu i have P1 Input 0, P2 Input 1

This need to be reversed for it to be correct, but no matter how many times i change it it goes back to 0,1 instead of 1,0, is it a bug or am i doing something wrong?

Also noticed that some things are automatically using second controls instead on the first?

Did you alter these settings in MAME yourself? Or did you bind them within ES?

OK Complete rewrite here, this is really weird, some games work some dont, but it looks like the mapping for most games are still set to my PS3 controller, so even though i have remapped for the cab alot of games are using the old settings and im finding more and more when i run them.

How can i wipe the settings and do a full remap, this is driving me nuts.

So was running on the TV with PS3 Controllers, now running in a cab with Zero delay encoders.

Should be in system/configs/mame/, a bunch of CFG files that you can just delete to reset them to their defaults.

What is the default config set for, as a new install in the cab results in unusable controls.

EDIT!

I think i have found the issue, the guy that wired the USB encoders had put the joystick wires into the standard buttons section instead of the u d l r section. They now come up as Axis instead of buttons. Most things seem to be working fine now.

I just have to remap certain games that use an analog stick.
