Commodore 64 emulation

According to the official website, Batocera does not support Commodore 64 emulation.

But in the default images there is a folder with the name of the console, and in the default menu there is an option to emulate it. Even in the default image there are 2 Commodore 64 games, but they do not work for me.

Question: Does Batocera support this emulator?

no. it doesn't.
there were a begining of work some monthes ago, never finished.
i've however worked on that subject for the version 5.10.
And now, it's working, but while i'm not a c64 player, i'm not sure it works correctly.
For example, you can control the player 1 only with the pad 2 (pads are inverted, it looks normal according to the documentation, but i don't know why).
What is your architecture so that i let you test and make a feedback ?

i've done a special version here for rpi3 to try to fix quirks (and then, some controllers),
i don't know if your issue is related to quirks.
i've put c64 for rpi3 too, i need feedbacks on it too.
i've no tested at all this image (quickly the previous one however)

If my memory serves me right, joystick ports on commodore64 were inverted originally even, pl1 controller was in port 2 and pl2 was in port 1 (same applied to amiga computers as well, since mouse used port 1 by default)

@Ruodokas Not quite true. Some of the C64 games used joystick connected to port 1, other to port 2.

@nadenislamarre are you working on including C64 VICE Libretro core or stand alone VICE emulator to the Batocera?

alone vice emulator. i think that the libretro core is in a alpha coding.

It seems that your implementation only reads .d64, .x64 and .t64 files. Can you enable .crt or show me where to add it?

can you try to edit this file :
/recalbox/share_init/system/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

then, save the overlay or just rerun es : /etc/init.d/S31emulationstation restart
tell me if that works.
if yes, please do a pr or tell me the modification so that i put it for the next batocera version.

have you tested the c64 on batocera ? i'm not familiar with c64, can you confirm that it works as expected please ?

I added .c64 and .C64 and it loads the game. Unfortunately I do not own a c64 so my testing is as "good" as yours.

By the way please also add .zip and .ZIP for gameboy advance games. It works for them and saves space. 🙂

I meant .zip and .ZIP fpr Apple2. I tested it for zipped .dsk-files - no problem at all.

By the way I couldn't edit this file:
/recalbox/share_init/system/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
After reboot all changes are gone.
So I simply changed it there:
/recalbox/share/system/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

I am currently testing 5.15 beta.
The zip-option is gone. After editing /recalbox/share_init/system/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg it works again. Please add the extensions .zip and .ZIP back. 🙂

The same for Amstrad CPC. Tested with zipped .dsk files.

Hey guys. I’m using the Libretto Vice core with no problem, seems to work for most games. I just can’t figure out how to switch disk files in multi-disk games. Any suggestion?
