I have almost 52,000 games, and have been carefully scraping screenshots over the past month or so. I started slow for a few weeks but eventually got a premium account with ScreenScraper to get things completed over the holidays.
After each system finished (I was doing a few-at-a-time), I’ve gone in and scrolled through games to confirm I have screenshots as expected.
After going through all systems, I did a final attempt to scrape again. After all, I had updated my romlists a few times as I was also cleaning up collections. But rather than either getting a few ROMS to scrape or 0, as I would have anticipated - it started trying to scrape almost 26,000 ROMs. And it started with Amstrad CPC; the first system it always tried to do.
I let it run for a few days, and tried again. I thought perhaps a database didn’t get updated somewhere along the line. But nope, it is still trying to scrape the exact same games again. In fact I’m on my 3rd attempt. And to be honest, I can’t check in on it religiously to see if anything is killing it in progress. (but if so, it still wouldn’t be grabbing the same games over/over?)
Given that I have the expected screenshots for each game, is there a reason for this behavior? And is there an easy fix? I’m sure if I investigated the file structure I could figure something out but I don’t want to lose anything and would prefer expert advice first.
For some background, before I ever figured out ScreenScraper I was using other databases but never got past Amstrad with any of them (download limits were too small). I initially figured maybe it was trying to re-download some of those but I never got more than a few thousand ROMS that way. NOT 26,000.
