hi, installed Batocera after messing around with RetroPie and Supreme for some weeks.
loving it so far but i’ve a problem with Naomi (flycast) and lightgun games+dolphinbar(mode 2)+wiimote under 32 where the lightgun pointer only moves within a small square in the top left corner of the screen. i’ve tried different resolutions to no avail except proving the pointer can move across a larger part of the screen if the resolution is low enough but in those cases the picture is stretched out and when set to a widescreen-friendly resolution the limited small square is back. with mame cores i can fix this by changing the x and y axes sensibility and/or speed.
i’ve had this issue in Retropie after updating to the latest lr-flycast version, 1.8.8 i believe it was, and i solved it by keeping flycast on v1.8.7. i’m saying this off the top of my head but i’m pretty sure those were the version numbers.
i’ve been reading around and as i understand it, it’s not possible to roll back to an older version of a core. is this correct? if so, has anyone any tips on how to fix this?
i’ve been messing with my 1st Raspberry Pi 4 for some months but i’m not new to linux or retroarch and emulation in general so i’m happy to provide logs, configs and what not.
thanks in advance!
edit: ok, sorta fixed it for Dreamcast by recalibrating the gun in-game and disabling the gun pointer under options in retroarch. for Naomi, within the service mode. had to allow service buttons under quickmenu>options in retroarch and hit the L joystick button to enable, then the R joy button to change selection. go to game test mode>gun adjustment. had to swap back between lightgun and controller in retroarch>quickmenu>controls and had to eyeball it as the retroarch gunpointer was way off. but because the pointer area running Naomi games is so small i can only make subtle movements to aim which isn’t ideal playability.
i’m gonna keep on messing with the resolution settings and post my findings although i think using an older version of flycast would do the trick without messing about.
tips and dick jokes always welcome!
edit: gave up after spending way too much time on this issue. went back to retropie because there i can actually control what versions of cores i run and the version of Kodi in Batocera isn’t suited for what i do with it. too bad, Batocera has features i love but these do not outweigh the annoyances.
thanks to the Batocera team for such a great distro though! i’m just a picky idiot is all 😅
