Atari Not stupid at all. You can literally just make an image using HDD Rawcopy or dd after setting it up how you like it (and permitted that all parties involved have legal ownership of the backups in question and permission to use them in this context) and use Balena Etcher to flash it just the same way you do the original Batocera image. You might want to disable autoresize in the batocera-boot.conf unless you want all your friends to buy hard-drives with equal to or greater space to the one you’re using to set it up. An alternative would be to compile your own build, but I’m assuming by “custom build” you mean just preloading a whole bunch of data on it and not actually customising the operating system itself.
