If I copy roms to the correct folder, does it matter what file names they have?

If the extension is correct, is this enough or do I have to use specific file name for each game?

When it comes to arcade systems like Atomiswave,Mame and others do not rename those roms as they most likely will not boot.

Keep them as they come,in that appreviated form.

Once you scrape artwork for them,the names will be normal in the system view.
