What’s the version in v33, looks like it’s no longer able to load many roms like virtua fighter 3, fighting viper 2 which I tested in supermodel r779 and it works

Yeah,there are a handful of games for Model 3 that just wont boot since v31.

In Batocera v30 VF3 and Fighting Vipers 2 worked.

In Batocera v31,32 and 33 nope.

It’s supermodel issue. I know how to fix it, but changes will be reset after reboot for me.

Basically, inside /usr/share/supermodel, there’s Games.xml in it. You will need to that file to remove driveboard_program for those games that not loaded. then it should work, I ran batocera from a flashed USB stick and changes I made got reset every time I reboot.

Ok, I work around it by using custom.sh to remove the Games.xml and copy my own one into /usr/share/supermodel

I’ve been informed that the issue is actually just caused by having incomplete ROMs.

VF3 does not have driveboard_program rom if you compare with the one under /use/share/supermodel

Hey!

I’m also trying to run as many MODEL3 :) games as possible!

For the moment, I have problems with 5 games:

- Fighting Vipers 2 | ES Return

- Ski Champ | Boot, but drive board error

- Virtua Fighter 3 (all versions | ES Return

- Virtua Striker 2 (all versions) | ES Return

- Virtua On 2 | ES Return

I am in V34 ×86_64. Can you teach me more about repairing to start games?

I talked to two people on Discord:

- 1 with x86_64 beta, the games mentioned do not work

- 1 with RPI4 ×86_64 beta, the mentioned games are running

Under which material are you? RPI4 or x86_64?

you need to modify the games.xml under /usr/share/supermodel to remove driveboard rom in those fighting games.

make sure run batocera-save-overlay after modified, otherwise, games.xml will get reset afte reboot

I can confirm if you find the correct roms they will work absolutely fine. It can be a pain though, you need a recent non-merged set. I found some dated May 2021 and they work great with the latest versions of Supermodel.

His solution works perfectly for those ‘pesky’ handful of games that stopped working after v30 of Batocera.

I can also confirm VF3,FV2 etc work again.

Its actually an easy fix..when you know how ofcourse.

Just an update to this.

Rather than do the work around,getting the correct rom is the key so you dont have to do the work around every time you update Batocera.

As per what a dev suggested in BN yt vid I looked in the system logs to see what file is missing and searched for it.Found it,and all I did was drop the missing file in the game archives of each of those handful of games. That worked for me.

Hint: Search for segabill zip file. extract the IC2 file from that and add it to the game archive of those games.
