2018 i5 Mac mini with 32GB of RAM and 1TB Hard drive

Hi, I have Batocera on a 1TB external hard drive. This setup seems to work agree on my Mini PC’s Cubes, and my 2012 i5 MacBook with 8GB of ram. When I try to hard drive on my MacMIini, if I am luck I will get the splash screen, then a black screen with a blinking curser. Sometimes it boots then locks up. That is if it boots up completely. Normally it just locks at the Splash screen or blinking curser.

I’ve try from scratch same thing. What could be going wrong. It creates the partitions and stuff it needs and then stops there.. Has anyone get this to work on a 2018 i5 MacMini?

Galvatron I’ve heard of other people having success with booting Batocera on Mac Minis, don’t give up! Here is a reddit post for the 2011 model:
Unfortunately I’ve heard that the more modern the Mac, the more hoops you have to jump through to get it to boot other operating systems. I’m not familiar with the topic myself but I wish you the best of luck in finding a quick solution!

Yeah you have to set two things in the firm ware to boot other Ones on the 2018 MacMini.

1) You have to set it boot from external drives.

2) You have to set it to allow to boot other OS non-trusted by Apple (something other than Windows)

After those two you are set, however Batocera is being a B-Word to figure out why it doesn’t boot or it doesn’t boot right. I guess I will have to keep working on it, I was kinda hoping that someone else was having the same issues and where able to fix them.

NipRing I got it to boot fully with the current V36 beta if anyone else is still searching.

NipRing I am still searching! lol I have got Batocera to boot on my 2018 Mac Mini, but I can’t get the wifi to work. And maybe not sound.
