Can I install batocera on a partition of hard drive

I have lubuntu installed on my hdd, sda1 partition. I reserved a partition sda2 with 10 GB for install batocera.
I want to have a dual boot, but I don't know how to do it. I copied batocera.img with dd to sda2, but it lost the file system and not work. In grub new batocera OS not appear. Can anybody give me some tip?

I used Clonezilla to DD the batocera img from a USB to the internal HDD of my chromebox (Custom BIOS).

I tried several times and I can't. Sda2 loss the format, i don't know what happen.

thanks for the help. Yes it can install on internall HDD, I success but I break my system several times xD.
Now I have a dualboot system.

i managed to do a dual boot by copying the /boot files into my ubuntu and changing the grub configuration.
note that you need a partition for data in a 2nd partition.
