How to prevent Mame from updating

Hello,

I just moved from retropie to botocera and loving it so far! However I can’t find any information on how to prevent Botocera from upgrading MAME. I have a full mame romset running with the latest mame, but fearful a standard Botocera update will update my mame version possibly breaking my romset. How do the upgrades work? Does Botocera updates also update the underlying emulators?

In Retropie the updates were lined but seems they are in botocera. Any advice here to ensure my Mame version doesn’t get updated? I dont want to disable auto updates and miss out on the feature adds and fixes for Botocera.

This is the reason we have the year version MAMEs. For instance, use MAME 2010 if you’d like a version which does not update. Otherwise, there’s no reason you can’t just choose to not upgrade Batocera. If it works for you, it works.

Other things to note:

Even though MAME updates regularly, there usually aren’t updates to the rom dumps often. You’re likely to find all your games still running fine (unless you’re a hoarding with thousands of arcade games…)
Updating your romset is usually pretty painless anyway, if you’ve been using a manager like clrmamepro or romulus.
