black screen after splash v5.27 to v34

I have tried every vs after 5.25 and i get the black screen of death. after flashing to usb then boot up it works on initial. after that say need to restart, it goes black after splash. I have a amd Ryzen 3 updated Radeon software. i’ve enabled the radeon primer in the txt file. I dont know what else to do.

Which Ryzen 3 CPU exactly? And could you explain in detail step-by-step what you are doing to reproduce the issue?

joinski I have the 3200U. Whenever I try to boot, I get the splash then the video then it goes black then it says no signal detected on the tv. I have dual HDMI. It won’t do it in any of them. However when I flash fresh it allows me access its after the initial I have issues.

problem with the auto-partition resize? Try reflashing and disable the resize in batocera-boot.conf.

I don’t know if that’s the same issue as that report is for an issue explicitly introduced in v34, whereas this user has tested versions 5.25 through to v34 (allegedly) with the same issue.
And on that note, the issue doesn’t seem to be identical, he’s saying that it does boot up once successfully, but then fails to do so thereafter.

Atari I think I have the problem solved. However I really don’t want to do it this way. I use 2 jump drives. 256gb for batocera then a 2 TB for the roms etc. as long as that second drive is in the pc it will work. However if I take it out and try to boot it will not work. I originally had Batocera on a 2tb usb drive and had the roms on the drive as well but I couldn’t seem to be able to create a link to the roms folder. Now I’m using windows 11 and it doesn’t even show the extra storage anymore. Ugh….

That’s strange. Normally, Batocera should then automatically fall back to storage device “internal”, if it is set to “external” and this external device is not connected (or not initialized during boot up in time).

joinski I don’t know. All I do know, is whenever I change the storage from any external it goes blank on boot up.
