PCSX2 slow on AMD Ryzen 5700G

Hi, I just built a mini PC with a AMD Ryzen 5700G and this thing can run PS3/Switch games at 60 FPS, but for PS2 games, I must play them in 720p to get decent performance. Is there something to do to boost performances on this platform? Thank you!

What games are you trying to play? I can tell you most PS2 games I’ve played on a Ryzen 4750G APU work wonderfully. Your RAM plays a huge role in the performance of these games since your “GPU” is essentially a partitioned off block of your RAM. I recommend the highest clocked stuff your mobo will handle with the lowest latency.

Also, some UEFI/BIOS’es will have an option to choose how many GB’s of RAM you can set aside for GPU usage.

That makes sense, sometimes pcsx2 is more difficult to run than rpcs3.
Could try turning on the unsafe settings in pcsx2-config to get better performance.

God of war for example. The thing is, I’m using a USB key to install Batocera so that I can move it between PCs. When I was playing on my main PC with a Geforce 1660 super, it was also terribly slow until I learned that you need to enable the nvidia drivers in the boot conf. After that the PS2 emulator was extremelly fast. But on my 5700G from AMD (integrated graphics), there’s no such option so I guess I’m stuck with an emulator that doesn’t know it can use GPU features…

BTW, the 5700G can run the newest Diablo Immortal on high settings at 60 fps, sot it is not an issue with the processor, but seems to be driver related.

Joe, as I said above, your RAM is most likely the culprit. Your APU relies on the System’s RAM to create a pseudo-gpu for your machine. You need to make sure you’re using fast ram with low latency.

I’m have PCSX2 with God of War running at a solid 60 with the entire system set to AUTO for it’s settings. What exactly are the speed/latency of your RAM?

I’ve been playing around with my Ryzen 5700G in an ASROCK deskmini 300x. Been trying ratchet and clank going commando. I was getting quite a bit of slowdown, but then I realized that with everything on full auto settings, it was defaulting to opengl and not vulkan. Once I switched to vulkan, I’m getting almost rock solid 60fps at 2x resolution (720p).

I have x300 / 5700g too. Pcsx2 Cant launch with vulkan
