Want to return to same console list after exiting game

This is really stupid, I realize, but I’m stumped. When I exit a GBA game, for example, I just want to return to my list of GBA games. But instead, no matter what kind of game I’m playing, when I exit I’m put back into the Atari2600 list. I’m guessing that’s because the Atari2600 is first console alphabetically. This started after I updated today, to v34. I’m running off of a USB flash drive.

I’m getting similar behavior from a 2nd USB drive. I created a new Batocera USB flash drive from the Batocera image (v34). I used Balena Etcher to flash Batocera. I then copied over roms. When I exit a SNES game, I’m taken back to the list of Atari2600 games. No matter what console I’m using, I’m taken to Atari2600.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Atari that was already off. Wiped the new install, and reinstalled. Same behavior.

For anyone following this: the answer was the slowness of the old Chromebook I was using. When I tried using the flash drive on a desktop machine, it behaves as it should. I had tried the flash drive on two different computers, but both were older Chromebooks with slow processors. Thanks for the help.
