Connect to vpn via Emulationstation

Hi there,

I’ve set up NordVPN in batocera according to this guide. It works in xterm but I want to be able to connect to a vpn via Emulationstation. So I’ve created a custom system with the command “%ROM%” and created txt-files with commands like “openvpn /userdata/system/openvpn/ovpn_udp/fr661.nordvpn.com.udp.ovpn &”. This works but after connecting to a vpn the screen is stuck. It shows the batocera screen with the name of the txt-file but won’t return to emulationstation. I have to kill the process using Alt + F4 which brings me to kodi. After returning to emulationstation the vpn connection is established.

What am I missing? Anybody experience in executing files that way?

Instead of making a custom system and trying to work around the limitations of ES’s <command> tag, it would probably be far easier to just make a basic .sh script and put it into the ports folder. https://wiki.batocera.org/systems:ports
