convert storage ext4 to btrfs

Hi,

I am new to batocera. Just installed this like few days ago. I am finding it a bit tedious when I am using my Windows and trying to copy files to batocera. As such, after some reading seems like btrfs is a good option for me when I want to copy files from Windows to batocera userdata folder. However, I cannot find any guide on how to do this. Do I user the format in batocera and format the “internal” disk? And what sort of data I have to backup/restore?

Or do I format it manually to btrfs and then copy the files back? Will batocera complain partition type has changed?

Appreciate any pointers in this. Thanks.

Hi, If the storage destination (internal or external) is empity Batacera just create a NEW folder structure with the default content (games).

Got it! Thanks for the simple yet the explanation I needed. Sometimes it’s hard to get information from wall of text. I know it’s my fault for not RTFM. Thank you…I will try this below:

copy /userdata into my HDD
format userdata partition into btrfs
boot batocera and let it create the structures again
copy back all the data from HDD back
