Stuck in loop after updating to latest version of Batocera

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me out, I updated my Batocera this morning, the update was quite big so I was quite surprised when it said it was ready after an hour. I restarted my machine and now it starts up Retropie fine and when Batocera starts it gets to here and gets stuck in this loop where it flashes “Collections” and bar fills up and writing goes past really fast and then says “Collections” the screen goes off and then it does that again, over and over.
I pressed CTRL+ALT+F3 and here is what the screen shows was happening in the background.
It looks like the update put folders in that were incomplete perhaps. I was hoping to press F1 on my keyboard so I can go in and delete those folders but once Batocera starts up, I can’t interrupt it.
Any help would be appreciated, many thanks in advance.

Batocera cannot break during an upgrade. By design, it will prevent the update if any part of it fails to boot.

However, there is nothing stopping your gamelist files being corrupted or ROMs failing to load if they were already present in your userdata.

Try a factory reset. You should then be able to figure out which gamelist/rom is causing the issue.

Oh that sounds about right. How do I perform a factory reset when it doesn’t allow me to interrupt.
Or do I hit CTRL+ALT+F3, then run a command to reset it from prompt?

Anfisdaman A factory reset is quite simple. Just rename all the applicable folders to “(folder name).old”. eg. “system.old”. Batocera will regenerate the userdata partition from anew.
