Still downloading and extracting Boom-Compatible Doom Mods/WADs. Up to the letter “S” on the list of these. Trying the entire list.
Vanilla (what the community calls the original engine)-Compatible WADs, on the other hand, I’m just hitting the high spots there to start. Like I thought the Boom-Compatible list was huge, it PALES AND SHITS ITSELF JUST LOOKING AT THE VANILLA LIST.
Gonna compile and extract the Boom List, put them in the folder structure on the Batocera wiki and go from there. From both lists, all told, there are about 950+ Doom mods/WADs to test.
And on the architecture front, oooff, did not realize it might be an Instruction Set thing. That makes it go from “wait for drivers or something.” status to “Pray for a port/buy an old-cheap-ass x86 machine/win the lottery and hire devs to make a port” status.
And of course this thing definitely ain’t no 552. I wouldn’t have been able to pull myself from PSP Ridge Racer and Wipeout games long enough to make this thread in the first place. I’d be playing Soul Calibur and mixing a batch like it was 1999 all over again.
