I just so happen to have a radeon rx 6500 and it’s working fine.
It reporting “mesa” is just the version of openGL being used. With AMD’s open source drivers, it is possible to use the regular mesa drivers. ie. that is what you want to see.
It is only because of Nvidia’s incompatibility, that opengl’s open drivers cannot be used, and Nvidia provides their own version of the opengl driver (which has its own plethora of issues not present in the regular one).
It might just be a case of you having a GPU that’s far less powerful than you were anticipating?
