Considering batocera

Hello,

I’m currently running retropie on ubuntu in a pc based

1up machine and custom controls.

Recently retropie refuses to save inputs correctly

Anyway I’m thinking about batocera and I wondered if I would be able to assign specific controllers to different cores.

I have nes, snes controllers etc and would like to store those to be used automatically.

Bonus points if I could save my custom control stick n buttons and a controler so if I went to mame I could pick up either and they would just work.

Also I’m running two monitors one vert one horizontal do you forsee that being a problem with batocera?

I really want my machine to be configured and locked out so my grandkid could just play it at will without me having to do surgery on it.

I love retropie but I have so much time invested and no luck.

You can do most of what you want. However:

You would have to set this up manually for every controller you want to “pick up and use either one” with.

But here’s a neat trick: Batocera by default will assign player 1 to both the keyboard and the first controller. So if your arcade stick comes up as a keyboard, then your described behaviour will actually be the default! For one controller at least.

Kid UI mode would be what you want. I think RetroPie already had this though.
