64-bit OS on a 32-bit computer?

Hello,

I've been trying to figure this one out for awhile. Everything I see is hearsay and experts, and there are persuasive arguments on both sides of the issue. I would like to hear it from someone who has tried it - or seen it done first-hand:

Does a 64-bit operating system (Windows 7) work on a 32-bit computer (Dell XPS 630i)? Will it help my XPS realize is full RAM potential? Or will it be a catastrophic mistake to make such an upgrade?

Will Daz be enhanced by the upgrade if it works.
If it works, would I be able to use the 64-bit version of Daz?

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

64 bits x86 processors can run both 64 bits and 32 bits software.
32 bits x86 processors cannot run 64 bits software.

When 64 bit processors compatible with the x86 architecture were introduced, they were referred to as x86-64. x86-32 (and x86-16) were used for the 32 (and 16) bit versions. This was eventually shortened to x64 for 64 bit and x86 alone refers to a 32 bit processor. The 32 bit processors are designed to handle a limited amount of physical memory maximum of 4GB but 64 bit can handle high memory utilizing 8,16 and some even32 GB.
