Hi. I´m currently prepping a Retropie (rPi4) as a x-mas present for my kids and have spent a lot of time making a fine selection of games AND making sure said kids cant break, nor navigate out of the “favorites list” in Emulationstation the rPi boots into. I cant find any good grid view-settings for Retropie and today i noticed tha Batocera easily offers grid viewed games in their frontend!
(btw im aware of “kid mode” in ES, but i preferred making ES kid friendly manually instead)
So before making the jump to Batocera, i need to know,
-is it possible to deactivate some buttons on the two PowerA Xbox 360-controllers that my kids will use to operate the rPi, while still using my own controller as a “master key”-controller with all buttons mapped.
-Is Retroarch handled the same? Meaning can i set shaders, custom button mapping - save core/game override settings. Make some games autoload save state (so that my kids wont have to sit through things like “ram check” when starting arcade games.
And cheats? Ive added cheats so that i.e. Joe & Mac cavemen ninja has unlimited lives.
-And deactivating hot keys so that my kids cant pull up the retroarch menus, but i still can using my usb keyboard?
I´ve heard rumors that batocera nukes retroarch settings upon restart.
EDIT: Removed a few questions after downloading Batocera and testing these myself.
