Retroarch no longer working

I ran out of space on my SD card and have since cleaned some out - trash not showing any files BTW - but found the trashed files be snooping about the file structure

since then though retroarch no longer loads any games for any system - I checked in the logs and all it mentions is:

(emulatorlaucher:580) ,module. Exiting configgen with status -1

There are no other errors logged

Has anyone else come across this and can offer a solution please?

I also checked the stderr log and it mentions a ‘configgen exception’ in the emulatorlauncher:571

the final error being…

Configparser.ParsingError: Source contains parsing errors: ‘<???>’ [line 457]: ‘vice_read_vi’

Batocera will not function if there is no remaining free space on the device to write logs.

It breaks in the sense that you cannot delete any files either, due to it overwriting content outside of the accessible user space.

The only sure-fire way to fix this is to repartition the drive.

Sure, but after I ran out of space I delete a load of files so there is now space on the drive and I an still seeing this error

You could also try a factory reset, where you rename the system folder so Batocera regenerates it.

I am wondering if some config got corrupted for Retroarch when it ran out of storage - if that was the case is there a way of reseting the config or reinstalling just Retroarch as everything else is setup and working fine?

Interestingly, if load Retroarch from the config app then it does work from there if I add games / systems manually, etc. but just without the niceness of having them all through the Batocera UI
