PCSX2 Config issues

If I enter the PCSX2 config menu by hitting f1 then turn on HW Hacks, whenever I go back into Batocera and launch a game the hacks aren’t applied. If I go back to the config menu the setting is now unchecked.

Been struggling with this for days and can’t find a solution. Am I wrong in assuming that any checkboxes I change in this config should remain changed between loading Roms? Are there settings within Batocera that might be overriding this config?

I’m trying to eliminate the ghosting effect in Burnout 3 at 2X resolution using the Vulkan backend. All of the recommended fixes involve using HW Hacks. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there no option for HW Hacks in Advanced Emulator Settings in ES?

joinski There is. The user probably just isn’t finding it.

hijinksensue Press Select while in the PS2 game list, and scroll to “Advanced system settings”. The rest should be obvious.

There isn’t a blanket setting in ES for turning HW Hacks on and off globally (that I am able to find). There are game-specific hardware hacks that you can choose from that menu, but the F1 > Applications > PCSX2 Config menu is the only place I see to turn them on globally.

That’s actually my post on Reddit. Someone there guided me to editing the conf file manually, changing HW Hacks from 0 to 1. This fixed it for me and now when I go into the conf menu the box is checked. I am wondering if there is something I am supposed to do to save my changes to that menu. I dont see an option anywhere to do that, but it would make sense if it was there.

I’ve got it all working for now, but I’m still confused as to what went wrong or what I did wrong.

It does. I guarantee you, if you flash the latest version of Batocera and go to PCSX2’s advanced system options, there is a setting for turning on or off both the automatic software hacks and automatic hardware hacks.

At this point, I’m thinking that you might be using an unofficial build which has replaced the es_features file with an older version which did not have this option. I would suggest flashing Batocera to a spare USB stick, load up one PS2 rom onto it, and check the options on it.
