I’m on 35 and have been using Batocera (very) comfortably across a variety of displays, usually taking the Pi to work to do some transfers, with no problems at all until all of a sudden I’m in the black screen of nothing state the past two days. I changed nothing in the config.txt or anything like that. I think Batocera gets confused and somehow messed up when changing certain display types (TVs/Monitor) or cabling (I was using an HDMI splitter recently), and then it goes into some weird state where it no longer wants to output HDMI.
Currently I plugged the SD card into the PC (because I can’t see the IP without the on-screen network settings) and uncommented HDMI safe mode and HDMI force hotplug. It doesn’t work, although now I occasionally see the splash updating the games and in the GUI it flashed into life for about 2 seconds before totally disappearing.
It’s a weird issue, it’s all over the internet, and it seems it’s primarily Batocera-related. Which is a shame, because honestly it’s great, but its HDMI handshaking def has issues.
EDIT: I made the following slight adjustments to config.txt
EDIT: As of this morning it’s just a black screen. Green operation light is on, it’s all running properly, no image on-screen. Will simply replacing config.txt just return all video settings to default? I have a feeling it won’t work as required, because I’d never adjusted config.txt settings prior to these issues happening.
If anyone has a foolproof method for restoring Batocera to full HDMI signal compatibility (as it once was) please feel free to share!
