Hello, i just started this trip of making my own arcade and batocera is making it easier, so far so good, good job making it!. Now comes my question about mame, is it possible to update the integrated version of mame that comes with in every Batocera release? Example batocera 34 comes with Mame standalone 0.242 and Batocera 35 with Mame 0.245, but i downloaded the latest 0.249 romset not wanting to redownload another set (i hope there’s no need for that), well thats it if anyone knows let me know… please! and thanks in advance :)

It will work for 99% of the romset. Changes are too small between close versions, unless a big change happens. So you can use 0.249 on 0.245 MAME without problems for the very most part. You won’t notice.

Atari

As above; you’re usually good with just keeping up to date with whatever games you actually do play. You don’t need 100% compatibility at all times.

If you want to use a static set, then use mame2010 or mame2003plus. Those obviously have their own issues and limitations, though.
