Minesweeper, Solitaire - WINDOWS

Hi everyone.

I’m pretty new to all this, I’m running MSDOS games fine with the batch files etc.

Windows I’m really struggling with. But I’d really like to channel and include the old games we grew up with in the 90’s (naughty games of solitaire etc on the school computers)

I tried putting games in the Windows folder (and ended up with a million games/files to choose from) lol

So then I read to use the Windows installer folder not the windows folder.

But my problem seems to be, that Minesweeper, Rats, Ski Free, Solitaire, don’t seem to have installer system.

I’d like to run Mine Sweeper, Solitaire, Rats!, Ski Free which are all windows 3.1 I think (maybe 95) does anyone know how to do it please? (the “roms” I have seem to have the game and a load of windows files included so I’m also a little concerned about doubling up on all the file sizes)

I hope someone may be able to help please.

I’m using Batocera v35 on a USB stick.

If the exe won’t run in WINE (16 bit apps probably won’t in a 64 bit wine prefix anyway), you’d probably have more success using the Dosbox-X core and install windows 3.1 or 95 on it.

I solved this in the end thanks to the Batocera Nation youtube channel (love that bloke!)

These types of windows files don’t need to go in the “Windows Installers” folder!

You just need to place the .exe file (and maybe any additional files required - for example Rats had a load of sound files) in the named game directory in “Windows” rather than windows installer.

Blue Screen WINE will kick in first time around.

Then I think you’ll need to edit the file manager batch file to navigate to the .exe file like normally.
