Dreamcast Emulator on Odroid U4 slow?

Hi!

I thought the performance gain would be bigger. Soul Calibur does not run with 60 FPS on Odroid. This may be related to the resolution of appro. 800x600. Can I dail back the resolution a bit somehow?

i think that the resolution can be changed by modifying the file boot.ini
however, it does it for the whole system, you cannot change the resolution only for an emulator on xu4.

In this case I mean the internal render resolution. Because the PSP Emulator runs in a far lower resolution then Dreamcast. And my TV tells me that the frontend of batocera runs in 1080p but the Dreamcast in 800x600.

hum. i don't know what it means, but i'm pretty sure that the xu4 is not able to change the resolution except at the board startup

what do I have to change in the boot.ini to change the whole system to 720p?

i don't precisely know.
you should check on the xu4 forum while it's not directly related on batocera.
however, if you found/manage to do it, i'm interested ;-) at a minimum to add a comment in the boot.ini to help peopple.

Sorry, it worked. I uncommented the line with 720p. I forgot that I tried recalbox. You have a better boot.ini in this regard. ;-)

But it did not help. The resolution is not the bottleneck I and I have the very same problem as I described in my video with Recalbox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8YNnhggYcQ

The N64 glitches can be fixed for odroid by setting this in mupen64plus.cfg

force_polygon_offset = True
polygon_offset_factor = -2
polygon_offset_units = -2

Performance in Reicast is still disappointing though. But this seems to be the problem with the emulator.

and the problem is that this change to fix gliches is game dependant. so, it'shard to make it correct by default.

memeka To get the timing right you need configure to run the emulator on 100%. This should not be done by setting a higher resolution to slow it down. The problem is not the GPU but the emulation on ARM itself. The configuration of Recalbox and batocera is the most you can get our of the odroid ... which is not much. And: Still no shadows and missing graphical effects compared to real hardware or other x86 emulators. =(

Hi there!
Just wondering what branch of Reicast you have used on 4.14.
I played around with that a couple of days ago with Retropie and Ubuntu 16.04 14.14.
I had to manually set platform to ordroidxu3 for Reicast to build but for some reason all I got when trying to launch it was ALSA errors.
Speaking of ALSA errors I saw occasional underruns and a frequent complaint about some mixer access issue.

TillmanZ the default branch from reicast github + one patch I found to fix dynrec
also manually set the platform to odroidxu3, also manually set to compile SDL support. I'm using latest SDL with support for drm/kms. I also got ALSA underrun errors, but with PULSE it works great.
