IPAC2 config 2 players and hotkeys HELP

Hello everyone,

after 3 days getting crazy on this issue I’m forced to ask you to help me..

I am building a small bartop as a gift. It is equipped with an:

i3 PC
IPAC2 (post 2015, firmware 1.44 Keyboard only), every key is tested and working correctly as KEY.

It works fine for Player1 using built in configuration keys: up, down, left, right, x, z, s, a, rshift, enter, q and w. I can play games without problems.

I’m getting crazy trying to enable Player2 controls and Hotkeys which aren’t working at all. Weird is that HOTKEYS (escape, volume up, down etc) are fully working connecting an external keyboard, but they are not working with IPAC2 connected.

I tried to follow the instructions on https://wiki.batocera.org/diy-arcade-controls creating a file with correct name of the input device: /usr/share/batocera/datainit/system/configs/xarcade2jstick/usb-Ultimarc_IPAC_2_Ultimarc_IPAC_2_9-event-kbd then saving the state correctly but still I’m not able to see it under the ES input menu.

I’ve modified inputs values for player2 on /userdata/system/configs/retroarch/retroarchcustom.cfg

then on /userdata/system/.configs/retroarch/retroarch.cfg wthout any results.
I have tried to do almost everything I’ve found on the web… Can you please help me ?

Hello parsec,

the ipac pcb is well recognized, even in two players on batocera, in my opinion you are doing it wrong when configuring your two players.

Normally there is only one “hotkey” and which is assigned only to P1 (so you already have a first problem if you try to put it in P2).

Then speaking of “hotkeys” you are wrong ….. because the “hotkeys” there is only one and is used to leave a game when you play.
If you’re talking about pressing two buttons for example, you have to say “shortcuts”

Last things:
Batocera copies all of your J1 config (except the hotkey) for the J2…. and therefore all your buttons must be wired the same way on both sides (this is why the hotkey will be on your last P1 entry).

Normally you just pressed a key at the very first launch, and batocera automatically recognizes your press, it will ask you to configure your buttons, as simple as that….
