Intel HD 4600 problems

Hello.

First of all,Thanks for those who develop batocera,and those who test it,those who get involved in it,Batocera is really what a lot of people want.Love u guys.

It’s my first post to the forum,It’s just one month since I started on Batocera.

At first,I have a HP T610,It works fine with my CRT screen.except the game were limited to FC、MAME、NEO.GEO . I hope can play some PS1 PS2 Games，so I got one Fujitsu PC, cpu:i5 4590 with Intel HD Graphics 4600, 8G RAM ,B85 motherboard. I found it works unnormal on V34、V35. And I tested on my lcd monitor with VGA port,but after the bootscreen(batocera-logo)the screen stays black,only display the Verson info “35 2022/09/17” at the bottom.after few minutes(It takes more time than normal),after startup is complete.then enter game and “F1” the screen crashed, and then press “ctrl”+ “alt” + “F3” TTY session runs properly.I tried different installation methods,yesterday it fixed,after the bootscreen(batocera-logo)the screen runs properly,can test games,“F1” was OK too.but today all go back again.It’s so strange.Then I search the forum about “i5 4590” “intel HD 4600 graphics”,It seems just happened to me.No one says work unnormal. Only found “https://forum.batocera.org/d/5911-crt-and-15-khz-video-card-compatibility” mention of “intel HD 4600 graphics”.

I have two questiones:

1、Why it’s so strange,sometime run properly ,sometime not.If anyone knows.

2、I prepared to get a single video card AMD R9-255,emm…Would be run properly with batocera?

Does it enough for play PS1、PS2 games with CRT screen (i5 4590,AMD R9-255,8G RAM)?

The motherboard only support single slot video card,and computer power is 248W.

A hardware defect (bad RAM for example or a faulty USB drive) can be ruled out?
You could also try with an older version of Batocera and see, what then happens (same issue?)

V29 V30 V31 works fine.

V32 V33 V34 V35 have the issue above.

When the AMD R9-255 video card arrived.I will try the latest version,hope i wont meet this problem again.

I can’t help with the video display issues (I assume they are only happening because VGA isn’t really tested in Batocera), but I can say that those specs should be able to run most PS2 games at native res full speed. Finally,installed V36 with GTX750ti ,it works fine.

HD 4600 , GTX710 , GTX750ti,All of them on V29 V30 V31 works fine. V32 V33 V34 V35 have the issue above.Then i installed V36 with GTX750ti,It’s ok.

Hello Skevin,

My opinion is you have a big problem (to with the understanding of the drivers/drivers)

=> i have 2 pc …

one CM is 1155 (I5 2500 / 16 GG DDR3 only / no CG ! )
one CM is 1366 (I5 530 / 8 GG DDR3 only / GT 610 zotac

my two pc are up to date on the side of my drivers and drivers under windows, because I get better results with the windows drivers installed than the linux drivers included in Batocera.
All my tests revealed a huge slowdown under linux drivers, even old ones for the same system!

Here again I play taito type x and a lot of win games, including technoparrot under batocera on my 2 pc, and I’m on V36 everywhere and i plays on PS2 any probleme ! )

whether under HD intel 4600 or under GT610 1GB: I have super good results …. because I tried all possible and unimaginable methods, and I saw with my own eyes the big differences (similarly only if you go out in VGA or in HDMI …. and besides it is for this reason of hdmi output that many people have a green screen or a black screen by having a better machine than me!)
