How to make a “mirror” for one ROM?

More. I need to display two separate games in the PSX game sheet: Silent Hill and Silent Hill Greatest Hits with different covers. I don’t want to download an identical single ROM file with a different name, it is large. Do I need to make two separate games with different image files in gamelist.xml at the address of one ROM file?

I tried writing two separate entries with separate <game id=“19265”> and <game id=“00065”> for one ROM file. But it didn’t work. Displays only one game of Silent Hill and ignores the other entry in gamelist.xml.

This is pretty much what symlinks are for: https://wiki.batocera.org/built_file_manager#symlinks

But it does beg the question of why you want to have two entries in ES for identical games.

(you could also do shenanigans by manually editing the gamelist.xml but this gets undone almost immediately by ES when it rescans your games, you would have to set it to “parse gamelists only” which disables a tonne of other features you may actually find useful, like playtime records or favourites)

I created a custom collection for SEGA GENESIS based on SEGA Classic and Mega Hit re-releases. To do this, I threw additional ROMs on the SD card. It took about 20MB.

I also created a custom collection for NES based on games that were released in black boxes. Now I want to create a custom PSX Greatest Hits collection. But adding additional ROM for this is a bad idea, because it will require a very large amount of memory on the SD card.

I feel like a dummy rom is fine if it’s just for display (rename the text file to xx.chd)
the other idea is
Prepare bin+cue, copy cue file and rename
(Change the copied cue file to Silent Hill Greatest Hits.cue)
