HannoH Hi all, I’ve tried now several times flashing the batocera x86 image on a thumb drive which fails, also unpacking and mounting fails, Win10 tells me “corrupt image”. I’ve downloaded the gz several times. Anyone able to help?
joinski HannoH Which image exactly did you download? Could you paste the link please? And you are using Balena Etcher for flashing it onto the thumb drive? I would suggest to give Raspberry Pi Imager a try. And also test on another thumb drive (just to rule out the thumb drive as cause).
HannoH I was using this image and the latest Balena Etcher. https://updates.batocera.org/x86_64/stable/last/batocera-x86_64-35-20220917.img.gz
joinski HannoH Which browser did you use for downloading? Try with another browser. And you do not need to unpack the file. Just open Balena Etcher (or Raspberry Pi Imager), select the file and the drive you want to flash on and go.
HannoH Hi Joinski, tried Balena and Raspberry Pi Imager and tried two different thumb drives. Nothing works. Browser was Chrome. BR
joinski HannoH Try downloading with firefox. It definitely works (because if not, than many more people than just you would already have reported)
HannoH Download file Start Balena Select File Select USB drive Start Flash Get error message “Flash Failed” Still trying to boot Getting error message that boot sector wasn’t found or similar
joinski HannoH And when you use Raspberry Pi Imager instead of Balena? And when you try another USB drive? (maybe the one you are using is broken?)
