Cheats not working for dq9

I’ve spent multiple hours trying to get the cheats for dragon quest 9 to work without any luck

I’ve tried different region versions of the cheat files as well as the game itself, even doing it through the different emulator cores retroarch offers but yet again no luck

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated as it’s one of my favourite games I played

So by using the desmume emulator and the USA version of the game and cheats I’ve finally got it to work. I’m currently testing to see if I can get the Europe version working as well since that’s the version with retroachievements

I’ve confirmed that desmume is the emulator for dq9 as both USA and European versions work with the respective cheat files, Only had a few codes not work but it’s still better than no codes working
