I have a Dell G3 i5 9300H GTX 1650 which has a problem using a external monitor, as soon as I choose the HDMI output both screens (internal and external) go black and I’m not able to do anything else with the laptop (not even ctrl+alt+F3 would respond) as I show in the video below
Error video
I have tried this using the stable version of Batocera 35 and the currently latest beta version and both present the same issue.
I have tried disabling and enabling Nvidia driver, and Nvidia prime (I tried all combinations and none of them work). I also tried starting with the HDMI plugged in and not plugged in at boot time.
I also tried the exact same pendrive on another laptop - Asus vivobook 14 and it does not present this issue. That notebook specs are i5 11300H - GTX 1650 MaxQ.
Coming back to the Dell with the issue, the funny thing is that I was able to make it work using xrandr from xterm simply by running xrandr --output HDMI-1-0 --mode 1920x1080
and it effectively duplicates the screen.
Even though this workaround works it’s not the best way to go as I have to manually run a command and it kind of kills the purpose of having a dedicated Batocera pc for the family.
I’m myself a software engineer and I want to be as useful as I can to help troubleshoot this issue and - hopefully - have it solved for the stable release of Batocera 36.
If you need any more info please don’t hesitate to ask,
Thanks in advance,
Enrique
