New to batocera need some kinux help

Hi all,

So allthough im a techie ive never used linux or virtual machines. Is it possible to run batocera within a running linux mint enviroment. Im looking at using one mini pc to run home assistant and batocera when requred.

Is this possibe as having a seperate unit for batocera seems pointless and i dont want home assistant shutdown to boot from a.usb.

Batocera is it’s own operating system; it’s based on Linux. Other than a virtual machine or something like WINE, you can’t run an OS inside another OS, and it wouldn’t be very efficient. The only other thing you could do is dual boot, which will require you to set aside a seperate partition on a storage device, or boot off an entirely different drive.

It is possible with virtual box etc. but the performance is bad.
