Remapping controller per core

I’m famaliar with how to manually edit buttons on RetroPie with a text file. I am wanting to accomplish the same thing with Batocera.

I have a Brawler N64 controller that works great for N64 thanks to a reddit post how to map in emulationstation. I want to use this for SNES, NES, and Sega as well. I would like to use the A,B and C Buttons as the 6 controller face buttons. I cannot figure out how to remap these for the cores themselves. I tried doing a little remapping but not all the buttons worked. Is there anyway to manually do this with a TEXT File?

I used this config for N64, but I want to get the other CORES setup a certain way so it works.

Why not just edit the controls in Retroarch and then save controls as a core override?

rob_g I tried to do this, but some buttons aren’t recognized for some reason. It is very confusing. That is why I was hoping to do with the text config file.

It appears there are 2 ways to remap buttons in RetroArch. One is through the quick menu, and the other is through the main input menu.

The main input menu appears to change the bindings for controllers. Is this on a per core basis or all of retroarch? I noticed when I change the mappings through this menu then I saw the Sega Gensis buttons and I could remap my buttons based on A,B,C, X,Y,Z.

There is an option in the RetroArch menu to save your changes on a per game, core, or folder basis. If I remember correctly, it’s called Overrides. You should be able to save the settings as a core override, and this would apply to any game played using a particular core. If you ssh in you can change this settings manually, though I forget the location of the cfg.

Im trying to map also this controller. Brawler64 Wireless edition . The thing is i wanted also use it in switch online and you have to update it to work properly in switch online. Now im trying to connect in batocera and it works but the c buttons are not working at all. The problem is that batocera setup the control like it has second joystick so it just gave you up and left so when you play in retroarch do whatever. Exist an option to autoconfig controls in the menu so you can unmark it and in retroarch remap correctly and save the mapping. But it dont save it. I tryed almost evry option in retroarch menu but i every time i go out to emulation station dont save the remap and still the same shit mapping. In the last batocera there is even no option to unmark autoconfig controls. I become crazy with this. i dont know what to do. Help. Sorry my english
