jase just got my switch 64 controller working great as per tutorial here. only problem is that the cursor drifts slowly to the top off the screen. is there a dead zone setting or similar i can play with anywhere?
joinski jase If you use Libretro N64 emulator cores, you can set the dead zone within the RetroArch settings. For standalone N64 emulators, unfortunately i don’t know how to set the dead zone :(
jase Bugger, they’re what I usually use. I don’t want to mess with my config in case I stuff it up again so was was looking for something mupen specific. Cheese for your help.
[deleted] My left started drifting just a bit short of 3 years for me, and the right started about a month after. My friends left one started drifting within a year and his right still hasn’t drifted at all. It’s all pretty random. pikashow.fyi ppssppgold.one
jase Bit shitty, was hoping there was a work around.. Nobody know how to adjust dead zone for stand alone?
joinski jase Maybe this helps? https://forum.batocera.org/d/7927-how-to-map-a-usb-n64-controller-the-proper-way within the config file you can set a value for “AnalogDeadzone”
jase joinski cheers, that’s the method I used to do the config, but completely overlooked that part..
jase Nah, messing around with those, can’t seem to make any change. I’ll keep digging or try find another controller. I have a retro bit tribute here but can’t seem to configure pro either…… just keep plugging away.
joinski jase Okay, so changing the values for AnalogDeadzone and AnalogPeak did not have any effect? I just googled a bit and found this thread here about maybe the same issue: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11467/seems-like-i-can-t-properly-set-dead-zone-for-mupenplusn64 And here an interesting discussion about Dead Zone in mupen64plus fz Oh, and now i just found this: @Atari what’s the status about this? Would be awesome to be able to set the Analog Dead Zone for standalone Mupen64Plus :) I recently purchased a original N64 Switch controller myself as well and would be happy to use it with Batocera in the best way possible.
Atari joinski I tried to implement a deadzone configuration setting in the past, however it was rejected as susan blamed it on being a broken controller instead. Oh well. Maybe in the future, we can add a global deadzone setting to the controller settings menu, not just for a single emulator.
jase Im still baffled, going to try and old ebay wired one and see how that works. If so then very disappointed with Nintendo given price. I dont know batocera/linux well enough o be able to use programs and tools inside.
joinski Atari recently i saw a discussion about that topic on the discord. but i don’t remember which channel it was (either beta, suggestions or developers) and i can’t find it anymore. but it was not older than a few days. edit: found it, but i mixed it up with something else. it wasn’t about deadzone but about mouse sensitivity (To make the mouse emulated on gamepad stick, faster or slower.) https://discord.com/channels/357518249883205632/758737696230867035/1101481546759802900 But regarding deadzone… at least for libretro emulators there is a possibility to change it (see my first reply here in this thread). Maybe we can add this as an option in ES as well.
